From January - March 2012, you can book award travel on American Airlines for 7500 less miles if you have an AAdvantage Platinum Select Visa card, issued by Citibank.
The least amount of miles you can use for a domestic roundtrip ticket in economy is 25k miles, so you would end up using 17,500 miles after the promotion. Domestic roundtrip in business/first would be 50k-7.5k, or 42,500 miles.
To book your ticket, find the itinerary online that works for you, and place a hold on it instead of purchasing it. Call the AAdvantage help desk at 800-882-8880 and mention code TB8X7A if you are flying in coach, and UB21X2A if you are flying in Business/First.
